Scrapped Princess
Finished the Scrapped Princess today and must say I very much liked it :) Story with content behind it, can only recommend it to anybody.

been to the sauna again and then with some people in downtown helsinki to take some night pictures. have been there quite some time and took some very nice pictures - looking forward to getting the others ones :)
being to Porvoo today - the second oldest town in Finland, dating back to about 1346. The old town is almost completely made out of wood - that is the reason, that there are no original buildings left - those all burned down at some point of time. The oldest one seems to be something like 200 years old. Depending on the manner of how the wood is ordered, it is also possible, to discern different building periods as earlier the wood was done vertically and later on they also used a horizontal manner to fix the boards.
When some king was visiting, they started painting the houses in red so they looked prettier, but this also increased their lifetime.
The churchroof burned down last year again, as it consisted of wooden shingles, so they are reconstructing it at the moment. Our guide also told as about the devilstairs: The story goes, that the church roof is very steep, so that the devil cannot land there. And the church square is triangular and so representing trinity so he cannot stay there also. This was the reason why he hurried off to the north where there is a huge granite stone looking like some kind of natural step.
After coming back, I was met by a French-Italian guy who was talking to me - and thinking of xkcd (I came here to give you a hint: take chances, talk to a stranger and stuff) i gave it a try. We went for a drink and it was quite nice - apart from some very obvious boasting, but I will not want to meet him again although he went out of his way to tell me to call him as soon as I am bored (this does not really happen here anyway ;) ) - so no chances there *g*
and one thing I noticed is, that here I am almost the oldest one which is quite strange, as normally I am always the youngest one around.

so/mo/di
sonntag wandern im nuukso national park - kurzfassung: geil wars, wald = waldviertel, regen = viel
laenger: haben uns zu mittag getroffen am hauptbahnhof, there was no rain but problems with charging travelcard; then on to leppävärä and there with bus 28K to the national park which is the terminal station. when we got off, the rain was pouring and from the 30 people still about 10 decided to come. soon everyone and everything was soaking wet. somtime in between it stopped raining and then we had a break. after we finished that, it started raining again. therefore, there aren't a lot of pictures. afterwards spending a quiet evening with listening to some musik and sleeping a lot.
montag uni und bank account, war auch problemlos moeglich; abend sauna party am dach oben, coole fotos mit jean-francois' kamera gemacht, muss ich schaun wann ich die krieg (und voi schen u worm, ca. 28grad)
di - student id und besuch in neuer wohnung - is voller inder(??), werd mal mit denen reden und mich vorstellen
sodale, vorstellung gelungen, namen merk i ma auf die gachn eh ned, ober es sind pakistaner, die heute ihren Unabhaengigkeitstag feiern. nett geplaudert.
Internet geht da uebrigens glei sofort ohne jegliche probleme - anstecken und funkt *g*
travelcard hab ich auch gepimpt, damit ich da ohne probleme so viel ich will hin u her fahren kann
ps: des schreib i grod von meinem neuen zimmer aus, fotos gibts, wenn ich wieder im alten bin und das kamerakabel hab

wochenende
hab mir heut ein fahrrad gekauft, des hat nur a ruecktrittbremse (nix mit vorderbremse, sowas is ueberbewertet *g*) und kein licht; und eine klingel zum drehen. aber es faehrt :) a ja, gaenge gibts auch ned, also schalten is nicht.
dazwischen ein kurzer besuch bei linnanmäki, dem großen vergnügungspark in helsinki, der so ca. 10 min mitm radl von da weg ist. einzelfahrten sind halt sauteuer, 5eur das stück; günstiger ist es nur mit der tageskarte um 30eur.
und dann war ich abends noch auf einem riesigen granitfelsen, mehr oder weniger warten, bis die sonne untergeht und dabei finnisch lernen. gibt ein paar recht nette fotos davon :)
Des waren auch fast die ersten Wolken seit Wochen ;)

temperatur
bevor ichs vergess - derzeit is des wetter in helsinki glaub ich um einiges waermer als in oesterreich ;)

It's just so nice, if the city has great ideas! apart from offering free wireless, which I very much appreciated, I like there way of handling museums:
There's a freilichtmuseum at Seuasaari, where you can go by bus and then just walk around it to enjoy the atmosphere and the beach there. And if you like, you can buy the ticket and also look into the houses instead of only seeing them from the outside. They even have free concerts and stuff there :)
Genauso und noch viel besser ist es mit Suomenlinna, der Seefestung. Die liegt auf 6 Inseln ausserhalb von Helsinki selber und ist nur per Faehre zu erreichen. Die gehoert tatsaechlich zum regulaeren Verkehrsnetz von Helsinki! Man kann also chillig mit der Monatskarte rueber fahren, und das machen tatsaechlich auch sehr viele Leute, weils dort eine Badegelegenheit gibt und den kleinsten Sandstrand von Helsinki (Foto davon gibts dann auf flickr). Und auch dort - obwohl Weltkulturerbe und so - ist das gesamte Festungsgelaende frei zu begehen. Wenn man ins Museum will bzw. fuer die Fuehrung zahlt man was und das wars. Ansonsten wohnen auf dem Gelaende auch 900 Leute, weil die Stadt Helsinki der Meinung ist, dass ein Museum belebt sein soll und so auch weniger Vandalismus passiert, weil die Leute drauf schaun. Ausserdem ist mehr los und das ist gut so :)
Und einen super Blick aufs Meer hat man von dort auch noch :)
Und ich hab den Schluessel zu meiner neuen Unterkunft. Der Name ist derzeit noch unaussprechbarer als der derzeitige. War heut noch vor der Uni dort, hab sogar einen Blick hineingeworfen. Klein, aber fein. Im Wesentlichen ist es eh ein Bett, Computerschreibtisch (oder was ich glaub dass die dafuer halten), Schreibtisch, Kasten, Regal und mein persoenliches Bad ;)
Und wir haben einen kleinen Balkon in der Wohnung!!!! Glaub ja, dass da derzeit noch zwei Burschen drinnen sind, aber das ist nur so eine unbestaetigte Vermutung, weil ich ausser 2 mountainbikes und einem schluessel niemand gesehen hab.
Die Baeder da sind ueberhaupt cool - am Klo hat man beim Waschbecken immer einen Duschkopf dabei - wofuer auch immer; in der derzeitigen Wohnung haben wir sogar in jedem unserer beiden Klos einen, auch auf der Uni gibts die ueberall.
Und die Dusche ist ein wasserfester Raum ohne Duschtasse, nur mit Vorhang und Abfluss in der Mitte und Abziehlippe zum das Wasser in den Abfluss bringen. Macht eigentlich eh Sinn und ist leichter zu reinigen, aber bei uns halt absolut unueblich.
